

Joshua M. Jemal joined the firm in 2001 and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2003. He was then elevated to partner in 2005. Mr. Jemal supervises the Litigation unit, where he represents various municipalities, corporations, partnerships and individuals in all phases of litigation. Mr. Jemal also specializes in the defense of Federal Civil Rights § 1983 cases including law enforcement liability, sexual harassment and employment discrimination. Mr. Jemal oversees the firms two senior associates and seven associates within the Litigation unit, which currently handles over a thousand active litigated matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jemal was an attorney with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s in house legal defense unit, where he worked on the defense on Liberty Mutual’s insured’s in various automobile, premises liability and homeowner’s liability and defamation litigation claims. There he undertook all phases of the defense from initial pleadings through discovery and ultimately to trial.
Mr. Jemal is admitted to practice law in New York State 1999, the United States District Court for the Eastern 1999 and Southern 2007 Districts and the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit 2006. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Dowling College and his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association and the Nassau Suffolk trial Lawyers Association.
